Graphics, sound and multimedia • VLC Randomly Stopping RPI3

Hey all,

So I have a RPI 3 and I'm having it on startup run VLC media player directed at a folder that has a bunch of video files in it in various subfolders, the idea for me is that it'll go through all the media randomly on startup and it works pretty well until at some point, seemingly randomly it fails to load a video. I'm not sure what the issue is, I re-encoded all the videos into a format that it can play and they're all at 720p max so it shouldn't be running into this. The weird thing is it seems like the videos just paused, if I plug in a keyboard and hit space bar when I notice the issue it continues on normally again, so its not like a crash or complete fail.

My current extremely shitty solution is to have it restart every 24 hours but it still occassionally stops and I'd rather just avoid this. I want it 24/7 without issues so it doesn't play the same media again until its gone through it all.

Any ideas what I could do to solve this?

I do know about adafruit video looper but I don't think that'd work for my purposes as it doesn't go through subfolders and I don't want it to be all in folder.
