At present I've got a working SSD on my Raspberry Pi 5 using the Waveshare board (https://www.waveshare.com/pcie-to-m.2-hat-plus.htm).
A friend (retired Cisco engr) and I are both gaining experience with the Raspberry Pi 5 device and he supplied me both with the Waveshare board and a 256GB card (believe it's this : SkHynix 256GB PCIe NVMe 2230 SSD - $17 on Amazon).
I'd like to learn how to be able to selectively boot from different partitions on the same memory device but I'll feel more comfortable with a bit more room for each installation .... so I'm looking at some 500GB boards.
What's got me concerned is that the devices appear to be showing that they may need more current than my present 256GB card.
How much current can the Raspberry Pi 5 board supply to a PCIe nvme board ?
