Beginners • Running Pi 3B+, Controlblock, MiniAmp and fan - ok solution?

I am looking to an arcade emulator using a Pi 3B+. I am thinking about a Controlblock HAT to handle the buttons and a MiniAmp HAT because my speakers are passive. The heat that might be created made me think about a fan too.

Before I buy the boards and the fan (already have the Pi) - any reason why this won't work or is a bad idea? If so, what is an alternative?

I think my options are a gpio tree of

Pi 3 -> fan HAT -> Controlblock HAT -> MiniAmp HAT

or

Pi 3 -> fan HAT -> cable to put HAT next to Pi -> Controlblock HAT -> MiniAmp HAT
This means the heat from the fan is not pushing onto the ControlBlock but seems really complicated
