OS: Debian GNULinux 12 (bookworm) aarch64

The computer was running VNC (v7.12.1 r21 x64) successfully (for my limited purposes). After the labxwc upgrade, which I dutifully accepted, VNC cannot display the desktop.
Setting changed in /boot/config.txt a very, very long time ago, mostly unrelated:In raspi-config, Advanced Options -> Wayland -> W3 Labwc is selected.
How do I get VNC Client working again to connect to this RPi instance? Thanks.
