I have a pi zero that I am using as a pihole. The internet connection is done using enc28j60 module. I have a step-up 5v from the 3.3v pi zero. The configuration is done so that the MAC address is always the same to play nice with static IP.
I followed this forum to generate the same MAC at boot:

I had issue with MAC not being the same, connection not working. Recently, I decided to give it a try again with a solution proposed in the forum that I hadn't tried before (here). It seems that I could get the pihole working for a bit (same MAC), but it just start, I can see it in my router. I can't ping it, get a timeout. Eventually I cannot see it in my router's list of connected device. I'm not sure where to start in order to understand why the connection is dropping. Any help is appreciated!
Note: I few weeks ago, I redid the pihole set-up and everything was working fine, could ssh and access the pihole portal. Now, I can't even do that even after a reboot. Bad sd card?
