Beginners • Screen rotation using GPIO.

Hello, I am working on a project and was wondering if it is possible to rotate screen orientation using a button connected to the GPIO pins. Or am I chasing a dream? I need a direction to go in, everything I have found so far deals with controlling the GPIO pins from the Raspberry Pi, not controlling the Raspberry Pi from the GPIO pins.

- Raspberry Pi 5
- Raspberry Pi OS FULL 64bit (latest version)
- Generic HDMI non touch screen.
- Experience coding for Arduino, no python experience.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
