General discussion • RPI Zero 2 W - Pin Confusion

I'm trying to get an IR transmitter working using LIRCD. I also have a WaveShare eInk HAT I will be using. I have a list of pins that the HAT uses so I can choose unused ones.

The LIRCD examples I have are to use GPIO 17 for receive and 18 for transmit. The problem I'm having is that 17&18 do not appear on GPIO READALL.

GPIO READALL

Code:

Also, when I look at the standard pinout for 40 pin RPI at https://www.raspberrypi.com/documentati ... ry-pi.html I see discrepancies between the RPI DOC and READALL. Some examples
  • GPIO 2 is on pin 3 and now shows as pin 13
  • GPIO 17 is on pin 11 but not even listed in READALL
Here is a link to the WaveShare PINOUT (scroll down) which seems to match with READALL https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/Raspberr ... ation#GPIO

So my questions are:
  • Can someone explain why there is a discrepancy in the pin outs?
  • What is a good alternative to use instead of 17 & 18
Thanks
