Beginners • Pi 5 RTC battery

I finally managed to find time to put together my Pi 5, active cooler, official case and RTC battery today. But I discovered two small annoying things with the battery – one is the small white circle that came in the bag, which I gather from here is an adhesive pad. As such, does it matter to which side of the battery I attach this pad ? And two, is there a best place to put the battery in the case (under the 5 – over the cooler – down the side of the case), assuming that the pad is meant to stick the battery in a specific spot ?
